Social Engineering in Public Education

By Fred Slocombe

A new film out by Cevin Soling exposes the truth about bad behavior of some students in school, that bad behavior in school is really a symptom of the oppressive social engineering of the public education system.

I’ve written letters to the editor about how bad school was for me. The majority of people have come to accept the public school system as “just fine the way it is.” They are the victims of a social engineering program that creates the idea in your head that you will live out your life working for someone else. The result is a massive surplus of workers. When there is a surplus of workers, the price of labor goes down.

Cevin Soling focuses on the transformation of public education from a factory model to a prison model which I can infer will engineer children to grow up to fear authority, to such a degree that they will no longer question authority.

The following is my personal transcript from the show “The Colbert Report.” I didn’t capture every nuance of the interview so I recommend watching it, then buying Cevin Soling’s video “The War on Kids.” http://wwwthewaronkids.com

Cevin Soling - Documentary: The War on Kids. http://www.thewaronkids.com

Stephen Colber: "My guest tonight made a documentary about our broken school system. It's so important I suggest all you kids skip school tommorrow to see it. Please welcom Cevin Soling!"

Stephen: "Mr. Soling thanks so much for joining us."

Cevin: "Thank You."

Stephen:"Now Sir, you have a new documentary called 'the war on kids.' What's the war, how can I sign up, okay, because it is us or them. They're here to replace us and I will not stand for it. Hit it."

Cevin: "The War is being fought by anyone who supports the current incarnation of public education."

Stephen: "I support it with my tax dollars sir."

Cevin" "Everyone or most people seem to supports it, many inadvertently and many with the best intentions. The problem now is that schools have now been transformed into, effectively prisons. "

Stephen: "What do you mean, prisons?"

Cevin:"There is a tremendous effort on school security, which has taken precedent over education, you have security cameras in the hallways, sometimes in the classrooms, metal detectors."

Stephen: "That's to protect us from the kids and the kids from each other. Those metal detectors don't spring up out of nowhere."

Cevin: "It is there but it's the environment that actually creates the need for that security."

Stephen: "But what's it doing to the kids, why is this a war on kids?"

Cevin: "Normal childhood behavior has been pathologized such that you have a situation where we're constantly drugging kids, you have perhaps upwards of eight million kids who are on anti-depressants or stimulants, or something for A.D.D. or other types of..."

Stephen: "Like Ritalin, things like that."

Cevin: "Absolutely. Basically, if you were to imagine taking..."

Stephen:" There on these things, it helps the pharmaceutical companies, it helps the teachers, and it helps the kids."

Cevin: "It doesn't help the kids though, the situation is a response to the oppressive environments of the classroom.

Stephen: "Wait a second. What would you rather the kids be on, Drugs?"

Cevin: "It's the environ...There's very little difference, or virtually no difference between these drugs and drugs that have been made illegal. What's happening with these kids in the classroom is that we're drugging them to make them adapt and conform to these oppressive environments that have taken place in schools."

Stephen: "What is wrong with conformity? Okay? Conformity's great isn't it?" [Stephen asks the audience]

The audience cheers and claps.

Stephen: "See, the majority agrees that conformity is great."

Cevin: "Conformity is the antithesis to American ideals and American spirit and I imagine you for one would want a society where everyone has the potential to be self-actualized."

Stephen: "Exactly, everyone should be able to do what they believe I want them to. But are you saying it was better at some point in the past? kids have always been trouble for teachers."

Cevin: "There never was a golden age of schooling, and that's one of the fallacies, Schooling was actually a Prussian Model, it was conceived in the 1800s as a military model to get people to become good soldiers, where they wouldn't ask questions and they could behave in a docile manner. with the advent of the Industrial revolution there was a factory model and you had different classrooms and the bell ringing, and all the different subjects broken down."

Stephen:" So schools are kid factories?"

Cevin: "They were there to train kids so they could adopt to factory lifestyle, which is why school today is still incredibly boring."

Audience laughs

Stephen:"Stay in school, kids."

Cevin"Now what's happened is because of media hype and fear, you have this overdependence on security, and the prison model has been adopted, in fact the same architects who have designed prisons are the same ones designing the new schools."

Stephen:"Now you went to minimum security prisons to check 'em out?"

Cevin: "I went to one in Ohio and compared it with a tour of an average school in New Jersey, and the amazing thing was that the prison was pretty much superior in every single way. If you were a parent and didn't know that one was a prison and one was a school, you would readily send your kid to the prison, it was better taken care of..."

Audience laughs

Stephen: "That would be a penny saver."

Cevin:"The food was the same, I'll give them that. I'm not advocating that kids go to prison instead of school, I'm thinking..."

Audience Laughs

Stephen: "Sounds like it."

Cevin: "ultimately they end up there. One of the problems that's taking place is zero tolerance is now ubiquitous."

Stephen: "Of what? Zero Tolerance of what? Drugs?"

Cevin: "No.."

Stepben: "knives? guns? Weapons?"

Cevin: "The spirit was that but now you have kids who are expelled or suspended for the most trivial of offenses or non-offensive. One school suspended a number of Kindergartners for playing cops and robbers because they were using their fingers as a gun, and another kid..."

Stephen: "Those things could a been loaded."

Cevin: "They could have"

Stephen: "Who knows where those fingers have been?"

Audience Laughs

Cevin: "But its gotten out of hand and you have this criminalization, you have five, six, seven year-olds handcuffed and taken to prison for throwing spit wads."

Stephen: "Some of those have cooties. Thank you so much. The film is 'The War on Kids' my guest is Cevin Soling. We'll be right back."
